Public Safety Responsibilities
The sheriff is a county law enforcement officer responsible for carrying out duties established by Arkansas law. These duties include maintaining public order, apprehending and committing offenders to jail, executing legal process, and attending court when required by law.
Law Enforcement & Justice
The sheriff's office performs legally assigned public-safety and law-enforcement functions, including enforcing applicable laws and responding to law-enforcement needs within its jurisdiction.
Court & Jail Duties
The sheriff carries out lawful court orders and performs duties related to the county jail. Courts—not the sheriff—exercise judicial authority.
Why This Office Matters
The sheriff's office is an important part of public safety and the administration of justice in Fulton County. Residents should understand that the sheriff is a county official. Municipal police departments have their own jurisdictions and responsibilities.
